Well, both teens have returned from their various holidays and we are currently outnumbered by the teenage variety as son has a friend staying with him/us until Saturday.

For the first time ever we went to bed last night before son came home. He knows that he has a curfew, midnight as it is the holidays, but we were both shattered and decided to go to bed. He has been suggesting this ever since he returned from Australia but I know that I will not sleep until I know he is home so I have resisted.

But last night, Ed, who usually up until way past midnight, decided that, as son had his key, and he was with W, he would go to bed at 11.30pm (has a trip on Wednesday for which he will have to leave the house early in the morning so he is trying to get some sleep “in the bank” so to speak).

I knew though, that I would not sleep until I heard him come in. Surprisingly, he made such little noise when he did come in at 11.45pm, that I did not hear him until he came up and poked his head into our bedroom to let us know he was indeed home. I was amazed that he could be so quiet.. I was awake - Ed was fast asleep!

I will have to try to get used to it though. He will be eighteen in four weeks time. Now thats another post in itself…

We have been back a week. I only work 3 days a week but those three days were hard going. Makes me yearn for the days when hubby and I sat at our adjacent desks and worked together……….

Son went away again on Saturday until the weekend. Daughter leaves this evening for Spain with her friend’s family for 8 days.

So we will have the house all to ourselves for a few days, (not counting the dog that is..)

It is rare for them both to be away at the same time.

When the cat’s away…….!!!
